Introducing the First US Scandinavian Village at the 2009 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, booth 29007
A thousand years ago, a Scandinavian invasion was something to be avoided at all costs, but much has changed since those bad old Viking days. So, when the Scandinavian outdoor brands march into their Scandinavian Village at the big trade shows like ISPO in Munich and OutDoor in Friedrichshafen, the response is positively exuberant. In fact, the Scandinavian Village is one of the most popular places at those shows! Not only do the Scandinavian brands, with their authentic heritage and high quality products, attract and charm customers, but the Village’s inviting Scandinavian Bar, the appealing Scandinavian snacks and, of course, those famous Scandinavian smiles, all attest that it is highly profitable – not to mention a great deal of fun – to do business with Scandinavians!

In 2001, the 30 leading Scandinavian Outdoor brands founded the Scandinavian Outdoor Group (S.O.G) to serve and support retail customers and media in European markets. For 2009 that support will, for the first time, also include activities in the US, commencing with the Scandinavian Village at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2009. Coordinated by Petra Hilleberg of Hilleberg the Tentmaker, the Village will be located in the frontal main hall, near the ‘elbow,’ and include brands like 66North, Bergans, Craft, Dale, Ecco, Hilleberg, Icebug, Light my Fire and Walkstool. The Scandinavian Bar will be open daily with coffee in the morning and throughout the day, and with beer in the afternoon. And don’t miss the Scandinavian Get-Together with Norwegian specialties on Friday Jan 23rd from 4 to 7pm!
