PrimaLoft®The Luxury Down Alternative® and DOWNLITE®, America’s premiere manufacturer of luxury bedding, have joined forces to launch Support Your Dreams, a campaign designed to support women and children making the transition into a new life away from the fear of domestic abuse.

Through the Support Your Dreams campaign, PrimaLoft and DOWNLITE will partner to donate pillows for residents of domestic violence shelters, spearhead donations drives to benefit local domestic violence shelters, and create an online pillow purchase program where a portion of the proceeds will benefit domestic violence services. All events will take place during the month of October in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness month.

Throughout the year, PrimaLoft and DOWNLITE will donate hundreds of PrimaLoft pillows to the Equinox Domestic Violence Shelter in Albany, New York and the Cincinnati YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter.  Equinox and the Cincinnati YWCA were selected to kick off the Support Your Dreams campaign because of their significant involvement in PrimaLoft and DOWNLITE’s respective communities of Albany, New York and Mason, Ohio.

The first donation to these shelters will be made on October 1, 2009 to observe the commencement of National Domestic Violence Awareness month.

“Equinox is delighted to participate with PrimaLoft and DOWNLITE in the Support Your Dreams program,” said Kathleen Magee, Director of Domestic Violence Services, Equinox.  “This past year, 212 women and their 109 children spent between one and 130 nights at the Equinox Domestic Violence Shelter.  Thanks to PrimaLoft and DOWNLITE, each individual who visits our shelter will now have a new, comfortable pillow to rest their head upon. These pillows can also be taken to our client’s new homes when they are ready to move on from our facility.”

Magee added that in these times of economic insecurity, partnerships between community service providers and business are more important than ever.  “These pillows represent the beginning of a new partnership that will benefit domestic violence victims in Albany County,” she said.

According to Theresa R. Singleton, Director, Protection from Abuse, YWCA of Greater Cincinnati, in 2008 the YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter served 710 women and children, while the YWCA Transitional Housing Programs served 153 women and children.

“The YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter is pleased and grateful to receive a large pillow donation from PrimaLoft and DOWNLITE, which will help to bring comfort to more than 800 hundred victims of domestic violence in Hamilton County,” said Singleton.
